PET


PET-P is a polyethylene terephthalate (PETP) or polyester. This is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic material without reinforcements, characterized by outstanding dimensional stability, excellent wear resistance, a low coefficient of friction, and resistance to moderately acidic solutions. PET-P (also known by the brand name Ertalyte) is capable of withstanding high loads and wear conditions. It offers good chemical resistance and abrasion resistance. Its low moisture absorption allows mechanical and electrical properties to be virtually unaffected by humidity.

The properties of this virgin PET-P make it an ideal material for precision mechanical parts exposed to high loads and wear.

Main characteristics:

Mechanical strength: PET-P's lower wear extends the life of the part. It provides greater load capacity than any other engineering plastic due to its higher compressive strength.
Maximum dimensional stability: PET-P parts maintain better tolerances and dimensions due to low thermal expansion, the absence of internal stresses, and micro porosity. The continuous service temperature of this material is 210°F (100°C), and its melting point is nearly 150°F higher than acetals. It retains significantly more of its original strength up to 180°F (85°C) than nylon or acetal.
Excellent sliding properties: Low coefficient of friction.
Food-compatible: 100% sanitary, physiologically inert, and bacteria-free due to the absence of porosity and absorbed moisture.
Better acid resistance than Nylon and Acetal.
